Weather Pals, Winter Weather in Massachusetts.

We are excited to be a part of the ePals.com Weather Pals project.  Here is the information we shared with the participating schools.

This has been a very snowy season.  We have gotten approximately 15″ of snow month.

On Wednesday, it was 23 degrees outside.  It was cold enough for the ice skating rink to be frozen solid.
Do you know what temperature will cause the ice to melt?

As we traveled through town to take photos at the local sportsman’s club, we saw a building that had a collapsed roof from the weight of the snow.   A lot of snow has melted since the roof had collapsed, but you can still see some of the snow on the ground.     Maggie posted on her blog about our winter weather.  She posted a photograph of a different building near our house that has a collapsed roof.
This winter season has brought us approximately 76 ” of snow.  Do you know how many feet that would be?

The last time we were at the sportsman’s club it was summer.  We had cooked on the grill and the children were swimming in the pond.  Delia was delighted to find icicles hanging from the picnic tables.    James has a photo of the pond on his blog and Maggie has a question for you about it on her blog .

We were on our way home and the kids were shouting that they saw deer.  Fortunately, there wasn’t much traffic so I was able to turn the car around so they could take photographs.  There were at least four of them in front of this house.  It is unusual to see that many deer in a residential area.

Why do you think the deer came out of the woods?

School of Hard Knocks!

My students learned the hard way about the importance of safety and background research before performing an experiment!   Here is our first Glogster production.
